I started playing poker about 14 years ago, when during a regular games night at our house while my Wife was pregnant with our first child, there was an unfortunate incident during a game of Cataan.
I realised that one player who had never won a game before was going to win and mentioned this (the classic nothing can go wrong now statement), then a few minutes later I realised that I could prevent her winning and in fact potentially win myself, so of course I took my chance and it did not go down too well!!.
After that it was decided next time we would play a card game and one friend said he fancied learning poker so our poker life began, I can still remember the early games where he was counting out the straight on his fingers while I was sat there with a full house hoping he used all five fingers.
Once we had learnt the game a bit we started looking for local pub games a few of us joined some local Redtooth leagues. Over the next couple of years I managed to win a few leagues and also took down a regional competition with 63o!.
My first trip to a casino was just prior to my 40th Birthday at Walsall Grosvenor. And from that point on I was completely hooked. On my first trip to Dusk till Dawn I managed 7th place in a super 50, which further cemented my love of the game.
I was lucky enough to get into the Black Country Poker Club and was able to see my game improve dramatically and from there I was even luckier to be accepted to Blue Blood, which is a great group of poker players with completely different back grounds, who provide great support and advice.
In my first stated game for them I was able to make 86th in the 2017 Goliath, which was a great way to meet everyone.
Away from poker I am married with two Children and run my own Accountancy Practice, so obviously getting time off to play poker can be tricky at times, but I try to get to the Casino as often as possible and also play in local weekly game.
