So we have ourselves another bracelet and a picture up on the “Wall Of Fame” at my local club for the second year running – Happy Days 🙂 There are some very good players and a few pros at the club so i’m very pleased with this achievement.
My local club have only been running a week long festival for the past five years this is the second year I’ve played. It always has five bracelet events which include a main event, SHR, PLO and a few other championship games. Last year I cashed in the 4 events I played and won a bracelet in WTB so this was ultimately the target for this year.
The main event I had two attempts at getting through to day2 but with no joy, PLO went pretty badly, I couldn’t play the SHR so my last chance of bracelet was the Irish Championship. PLO is really my game and it seemed to give me an advantage in Irish with the starting hands you want to enter the pot with. I rode my luck a little, keep some cards that were draw heavy instead of the made hands and got to the final table. Once at the final table my chip stack only ever increased, I had a good run of cards and we made heads up against a friend of mine. We chopped the money as we had both mentioned the thing that meant the most to us was the bracelet and the wall of fame picture. He is a very good player so I needed a bit of luck which came in the form of a 2 of hearts on the river – it gave me a straight against his flopped set which see me take the title.
This local festival is a really good way of me warming up for the Goliath as it’s so close. Hopefully i’ll be able to join in the fun next year where i’ll be going for the never been done before third bracelet!
