Up until now, team events have always been a bit of struggle! I’ve competed in the last two team events at APAT and not had anything significant to report. When the counties event was announced by APAT, I just knew I had to get involved! I selected 3 other players to join me (one being Danny Strange) and headed up to Manchester.
This event really made me realise what being a team meant, we were railing each other to get through the STT’s! Updating the scores to each other, putting the pressure on the last remaining player on how many places he needed to ladder up so we would be safe!
Everyone played their part! We were delighted to make the final table thanks to our last chance saloon shot Paul Beard who took down the last remaining sit n go!! Unfortunately the bubble was all we could manage, that said it was certainly the most fun event in a while despite the ups and downs! I was super proud of how everyone played their part and it was a great opportunity to try different variants of poker without loosing a lot of money!
Cant wait for the next one!! The event has inspired me to change the format of the up and coming East Herts Team Event……coming 1st June 2019!!!!
