So I found out late last week that the in-laws were coming round on the weekend to see little man so I thought I’d make the most of it and play some poker. Having looked around the best value comp seemed to be at DTD, I loved it the first and only other time I’ve previously played there so it made the decision easy. They really have got everything right, dealers are awesome, massive car park, excellent cardroom, superb TD’s….even those little side tables are the best in poker!
I planned on having a few bullets, I arrived took a look round the cardroom and noticed a few players on a cash table with fairly short stacks and no one above the max buyin which seemed a little odd. I sat down and within 30mins (c10 hands later) i’d made £420 profit which paid for the weekend and then some which was a great start. Freerolling really is the best way to start any tournament 🙂
I then late regged the first day1 which left me a bit under it from the get go, I found a spot in the small big fairly early on, blinds were 2.5k 5k, 3 x limpers, one min button raise, I look down at AKo and jam, everyone folds apart from the button who eventually calls with JJ and we don’t improve so onto the next bullet!
Bullet number 2 had a lot more play in it seeing as I brought in at the start of of play this time round with a 100k starting stack. We play a few hands and chip up nicely ending the first break with 217k, the second session of play was pretty uneventful and manage to end the second break on 221k. I get to the end of level 17 (one before day2) with a 276k stack, blinds were 4k,8k with a 8k BB ante and pick up QQ in the HJ. It got folded round to me, I make it 18k, SB calls, BB makes it 55k, we tank for a while then jam, SB folds, BB thinks for a while and calls with AK for 80% of his stack. Flop comes 8high rainbow, turn was typically an Ace, we don’t improve and head for the exit 🙁
All in all another great experience at DTD, hopefully sometime in the next few years my big pairs hold up when getting them in ahead for my tournament life……onto the next 🙂
