Started playing poker in 2007 when a friend suggested that I try it online. That year on a road trip which passed through Vegas I played a SNG in Treasure Island and finished second for $60.
The following year I met Brian Yates on a MTT final table in Caesars Palace(the old poker room before they turned it into a nightclub) and he told me about APAT. I have been playing two or three APAT events every year since then. Living in Dundee travelling to and from events was quite tricky but with an understanding boss I was able to leave early on a Friday or arrive late on a Monday to allow me to play. When he retired that was no longer an option and so I dropped out of most APAT events. Now that I’m retired I’m back and enjoying my APAT experience again. Trips to Spa, Malta and the upcoming Vienna Worlds make it a great tour.
I have made three APAT final tables but I’m still waiting for that first title. I’ve also made two 25/25 final tables. In 2018 I timed my visit to the USA to allow me to play in the WSOP Giant. I finished 109/8500. A great experience. I have been successful in team tournaments, winning one of each, Gold, Silver and Bronze, with Scotland. Largest online win was on Sky Poker where I finished second in the Primo for £3750.
Having played football and basketball when I was younger I am very competitive, as I got older I was looking for other activities that gave me that buzz. Poker has filled that hole.
I travel to the USA every year and usually find time for a few days in Vegas.(my claim to fame is I have visited all 50 States)
